What needs to be included in a Disaster Recovery Plan?It is often assumed by organisation’s that have a Disaster Recovery Plan in place, that their vital records are protected. However, it is important to note that a Disaster Recovery Plan that is developed by an organisation’s IT department may only back up and recover the electronic records on their network, not necessarily the organisation’s vital records which may be in other formats (i.e. paper / microfiche). Vital records are records that must be constantly available in order for the organisation to continue to operate in the event of a disaster. They are records which if unavailable, would negatively affect the organisation. As a result, extraordinary precautions are required to effectively preserve and protect vital records from both normal and unusual hazards, present and potential. GRM can store your vital records in our document vaults with temperature and humidity controls, along with FM200 gas suppression. We also give clients the option to create an electronic copy of their documentation by scanning their information onto CD Rom, DVD or our server, where it is available for secure download. Backing up your computer network and implementing a Complete Disaster Recovery Plan should be of primary importance to a forward thinking company. The onus is on your organisation to identify and take the necessary steps to protect your vital records. Your business depends on it. Understandably this is a huge task, but that’s what we’re here for! Why not give us a call and one of our specialised experts will advise you on the best of course of action to take. |
